The Photo Shoot Out

Island Lake Lodge launches "The Photo Shoot Out." A new event showcasing local and up and coming pro photographers and athletes March 24, 25 & 26 2008.

The first annual Photo Shoot Out at Island Lake is an exciting opportunity for local and up and coming pro photographers, skiers and boarders to break onto the scene during a 3 day catskiing competition throughout Island Lake's world renowned terrain. Untracked powder and the majestic Lizard Range of the BC Rockies make Island Lake the ultimate location for a Photo Shoot Out.

Six photographers will be chosen and be given the opportunity to hand pick three athletes to shoot over the 3 days. Once the day of shooting is complete at Island Lake, the group will head to Historic Downtown Fernie where photographs from the days adventures will be shown at a local watering hole. A panel of judges will decide on the best photographs of the day, taking into consideration components  such as the composition of the shot, the best line and the best powder shot. The best photos, along with other categories such as people's choice, will be rewarded daily with prizes supplied by our industry partners.

Steve Kuijt, guide and general manager of Island Lake Lodge explains the purpose of the event: “This is a fantastic opportunity for both grassroots photographers and athletes to gain exposure and ride the epic terrain at Island Lake.”
