Snowcat vehicles are fully tracked and designed to move on snow. Because Snowcats are used for grooming the snowmobile or ski trails, they are also called groomers. Snowcat skiing operators use snowcats to transport skiers and snowboarders into high backcountry regions. The tracks are usually made of rubber, aluminium or steel and driven by a single sprocket on each side, and ride over rubber wheels with a solid foam interior. The design of Snowcat parts is optimized for a snow surface, or soft grounds. Why Snowcat Skiing is the Way to Go........?Snowcat skiing is good for 3-7 day holidays. Snowcat skiers enjoy a dedicated snowcat vehicle that moves according to the needs and ability of the group. Most snowcat skiing operators recommend their clients be at least "strong intermediates". But depending on the terrain, some less experienced intermediate skiers who are in good physical condition can also be accommodated. Snowcat skiing is not normally weather-dependent. Snowcat skiing provides a relaxed vacation that requires no prior experience or special equipment. The amount of cat skiing done in a day depends on the group. Typically, 10 to 15 runs can be skied for approximately 12,000 and 15,000 vertical feet. The great advantage of snowcat skiing is that "down" days almost never occur. Clients ski every day and bad weather can often mean extra-good snow. Snowcat skiing is more relaxed and "laid back" as there is no need to share equipment between groups or to maximize equipment usage. Snowcat skiing is very "client-friendly". Each group has a dedicated machine and it moves at the group's pleasure. Escape the crowded ski hills and experience a true powder skiing experience on one of our snowcat skiing tours. Take a snowcat skiing adventure through the secluded terrain and deep Canadian powder. To reach these untouched slopes you will be transported up the mountain in an all terrain snowcat. These snowcat vehicles can ascend the mountain in almost any type of weather, allowing for fewer weather delays. Choose from wide-open gentle slopes to runs with sharp drops and tree-lined chutes all covered in glorious powder. Don't miss the ultimate powder adventure! |
